Audio Mastering for Stereo, and Surround Sound
In Its simplest form, mastering is the essential final process of technically and creatively enhancing and assembling the individual tracks of a recording project. It's putting on the icing so to speak. In a mastering session the audio will be analyzed and judged whether equalization and compression and other processing would be beneficial or whether it is sounding glorious as is and would be better left alone. Sometimes the apparently subtle degree of benefit that comes from proper mastering can make a listener "a believer" in the music rather than second guessing their commitment to the music. Regardless, most folks come back saying it just translates better into the real world listening environments. Once this process is completed and approved by the artist / client, the music is transferred to the format required for its release medium and sent to manufacturing plants for duplication and distribution. We think mastering is a highly specialized field requiring refined skills in discerning and manipulating the very finite spectrum of sound in its infinite characteristics and parameters. Web Mastering
Web Mastering allows us to master projects for our clients around the globe. We do this by using our own secure FTP website. It's a dedicated, password protected file transfer service where clients can securely transfer uncompressed, full resolution PCM digital files to Jo‹o Carvalho Mastering. After we have mastered the tracks we can then securely upload the mastered audio back onto our FTP site for clients to review and approve.

Night Shift Mastering
Night Shift Mastering allows independent artists to have their music mastered, achieving the refined edge needed to compete against the major label releases, at a price even the most budget conscious indie band can afford. Our night shift engineers are well aware of the challenges facing the making of an independent recording and have amassed a small arsenal of skills and tricks to reign in the "indie recording beast". They have access to all the amazing equipment at JCM while doing this at a discounted rate.

Re-Mastering
Sources coming from vinyl or older tape stock can be "de-clicked" and or "de-crackled", delivering a smooth sounding master virtually defect or scratch free. Miracles sometimes happen.

We offer a full array of Enhanced CD, Video and DVD services. Our in-house Video partners (Broken Dolly Productions) can facilitate all your video needs from the simplest tasks such as authoring DVD to a full blown package, creating concept, filming, editing and photography. The boys have years of experience and have worked with numerous artists and video/television projects including Evans Blue, These Electric Lives, Broken Suns, Alliance Atlantis, Omni Televison, The NHL, MTV, ORF etc. etc
